Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali city tour – Transfer to Gisenyi.
Have breakfast and be ready for pick up by our company tour guide. You will begin your day with Kigali grand tour. Places to visit before your drive to volcanoes national park include the Gisozi genocide site, local craft shops and local markets. Have lunch and later hit the road driving to Gisenyi, viewing remarkable scenery of the Virunga Mountains en route. In the evening, you may go for a boat cruise along lake Kivu. Dinner and overnight stay at Kivu Serena Hotel(luxury)/Gorillas hotel (Deluxe).

Day 2: Nyiragongo Hike.
Have breakfast at your hotel early morning and cross over to DR Congo and proceed to Kibatsi village where the mountain Hike starts from. You will reach the top in the
afternoon and have dinner and overnight at the top of the Nyiragongo Volcanoe.

Day 3: Descent the volcano and transfer to Volcanoes NP.
In the morning, you will descend the volcano and cross back to Rwanda and
drive to Volcanoes NP. In the evening, you may go for cultural experience to
Iby’wachu cultural village. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge(Luxury)/La
palme Hotel(Deluxe)/Muhabura Hotel(Budget).

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes NP – Visit Lakes Burera & Ruhondo
Be up early for breakfast at your hotel, drive to the park head offices with your tour guide. Assemble for briefing by 7:30 about the do’s and don’t when you meet gorillas. This is a standard precaution to protect the health of the mountain gorillas and the visitors. You will also be divided in groups of 8 people depending on your level of fitness.

After the Briefing and assigning a gorilla group to trek, you will drive to the head trail of your gorilla group where the trek will begin. At this point you will descend into the forest with a lead from an experienced local guide who will be in position to answer all your question as you trek in search for your gorilla family. This trek can last from 30 minutes to 6 hours hiking through bamboo trees. The length of your trek depends on how far into the forest your gorilla group has moved. You Once you meet the gorillas, only one hour is allowed with the gentle species so as not to exhaust them. In this one hour, you are allowed to take pictures, video recording but don’t forget to take time and take in this magical moment!
Once the hour is done, descend back to the head trail where you entered the forest from.

In The afternoon have an optional tour of the Lake Burera and Ruhondo located within the vicinity of Volcanoes national park.Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge(Luxury)/La palme Hotel(Deluxe)/Muhabura Hotel(Budget).

Day 5: Dian Fossey hike/Mt Bisoke hike – Ibyiwacu Village
In the morning, you will go to the park headquarters for briefing, and
later, go for the hike to Dian Fossey grave, an American primatologist who dedicated her years to saving the endangered lives of the gorillas to visit the remains of her reasech center and her grave or Hike Mountain Bisoke. Once done, have lunch and in the afternoon set out to the Ibyiwacu cultural village to experience the authentic Rwanda culture. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 6: Transfer to Lake Kivu and Boat ride
After an early breakfast, and get ready to transfer to Lake Kivu situated in Gisenyi province. Lake Kivu is the biggest fresh water lake in Rwanda with quite a number of breathtaking views and relaxing. You will have a boat ride on lake Kivu on arrival and in the afternoon relax on the shores of Lake Kivu. Dinner and overnight stay at L. Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP – Afternoon Launch Cruise
Have your breakfast and headset to transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park on a 5 hour drive crossing to Uganda through the Cyanika border. You will drive through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth to see the tree climbing lions. In the evening you will embark on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural channel between Lake Edward and Lake George. Thanks to the abundant birdlife as well as the herds of elephants, buffaloes and hundreds of hippos that are cooling off at the shores. Day 8: Morning Game Drive – Transfer to Kibale National park
Wake up early with your packed snack head out for a very early game drive so as to catch the early risers. Wildlife you will see in abundance includes lion, elephant, buffalo and other animals in their natural habitat before returning for lunch. In the afternoon embrace on a 2 hour drive to Kibale national park. Dinner and Overnight at the lodge

Day 9: Chimpanzee Tracking
Today the forest opens its doors for sensational chimp tracking. Kibale Forest is reputable for having the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the habituated chimpanzee, red-tailed monkey, black and white Colobus monkey and many others. After lunch we transfer to Bigodi for a complete different walk. Here you will have the choice to join a guided Swamp Walk through the Wetland Sanctuary, which is famous for the many birds and primates that live in this area. Return to your lodge for Evening relaxation. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 10: Departure

Wake up early for breakfast and get ready to transfer to back to Kigali for departure. This tour can also end in Kampala depending on the client’s choice.

End of Safari
