Pick Up for City Tour – Volcanoes NP
Pick Up by our tour guide and welcome to the “Land of thousand Hills” enriched with beautiful views of the rolling green hills but with a horrific genocide history. This tour will take you for a city tour to the Gisozi memorial site where you will learn first hand information of the horrific genocide. Or you can visit the Gokongori genocide site situated in Murambi in Kigali. The city tour will also take you to local markets, craft shops, local markets and later you will ave lunch before you drive off on a 2 hours drive to volcanoes national park, driving through beautiful views of rolling hill of the Volcanoes national park.Dinner and overnight at Muhabura Guest House (Budget)/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge (Mid range) / Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury)
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes NP – Visit Lakes Burera & Ruhondo
Up early for breakfast at your hotel, with a lunch pack, drive to the park head offices with your tour guide. Assemble for briefing by 7:30 AM for registration, and a briefing about the do’s and don’t when you meet gorillas. This is a standard precaution to protect the health of the mountain gorillas and the visitors. You will also be divided in groups of 8 people depending on your level of fitness.
After the Briefing and assigning a gorilla group to trek, you will drive to the head trail of your gorilla group where the trek will begin. At this point you will descend into the forest with a lead from an experienced local guide who will be in position to answer all your question as you trek in search for your gorilla family. This trek can last from 30 minutes to 6 hours hiking through bamboo trees. The length of your trek depends on how far into the forest your gorilla group has moved. You Once you meet the gorillas, only one hour is allowed with the gentle species so as not to exhaust them. In this one hour, you are allowed to take pictures, video recording but don’t forget to take time and take in this magical moment!
Once the hour is done, descend back to the head trail where you entered the forest from.

Day 3: Transfer from Volcanoes to Kibali national park
Have breakfast at your hotel early and set off on the long drive to Kibale forest national park in Uganda. You will cross to Uganda via the Cyanika border through Kigezi highland also known as the Ugandan “Switzerland” because of the very cool temperatures year round, descending to Fortforpal town where Kibale national park is situated. Dinner and overnight stay at Kyaninga Lodge / Ndali Lodge / Crater Lodge for luxury, Mountains of the Moon Hotel for Mid-range and Chimpanzee Guest House budget
Day 4: Chimps Tracking & Bigodi nature walk
After Breakfast at your hotel, headset for briefing by a local park ranger. The activity starts early in the morning at 8.00 a.m. A half day search for chimps and monkeys including phoestes, Red-Colobuses, Blue, Red-tailed and grey cheeked Mangabeys swinging through the impenetrable forest. You will also see varieties of birds, butterflies and many small insects. The ranger will provide detailed explanations on not only the primates, but also on all the forest’s fauna and flora, ensuring that your walk is both informative and enjoyable. After lunch, a visit to Bigodi wetland an eco tourism site is incredible as you shall encounter rare and beautiful aquatic life. Dinner and overnight at your hotel
Day 5: Visit the crater lakes region and transfer back to Kigali
Have an early breakfast and drive through the great rift valley region for a beautiful scenery due to the many crater lakes found their, and later drive back to Kigali having lunch en route.
