Overview

Detailed itinerary 

Day 1: To Aberdares National Park

Visit one of the most picturesque parks in the Magical Kenya- Aberdare National Park located in Central Kenya, 164kms from Nairobi. Known for its large herds of elephants, black rhinos, plus lushly steep forested ravines and open moorland, a visit to Aberdare National Park on 7 days Kenya safari is a dream come to any nature lover.

For birders, expect to look for more than 250 bird species such as sparrow hawks, sunbirds, Jackson’s francolins, plovers. Besides, a range of animal species also reside within the park including bushbucks, olive baboons, leopards, rhinos, elephants, spotted hyenas, buffaloes, duikers, golden cats, black and white colobus monkeys, etc.

Arrive at Aberdare National Park early to check in and also enjoy lunch, relax and embark on an afternoon game viewing/drive. Expected sightings will include waterbucks, bushbucks, African wild dog, buffaloes, leopards, elands, birds, giant forest hog, stripped jackals and beautiful view of the hills and volcanic outcrops. After, drive back to the lodge to chill and have overnight stay.

Day 2: Game drive & drive to Lake Nakuru National Park

A morning game drive will begin early and in your 4×4 vehicle with pop-up roof offering uninterrupted view of Aberdare’s endowment. These will include elephants, rhinos, elands, birds and other species.

Later, you will get back to check out and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Late afternoon game drive will be conducted with a chance for you to enjoy view of zebras, giraffes, gazelles, a range of birds such as grey headed woodpecker, pink shade flamingoes, grey crowned cranes, Abyssinian thrush, great snipe, bateleur and more.

Day 3: To Masai Mara National Reserve 

Leave Lake Nakuru National Park for Maasai Mara National Reserve 4-5 hours’ drive in a 4×4 drive vehicle with pop-up roof. Drive via Narok town and arrive at the reserve to check in at your lodge, enjoy lunch and also get some relaxation. In the afternoon after lunch, there will be a game drive to see cheetahs, elephants, leopards, lions, rhinos, buffaloes, birds, antelopes, etc.

Day 4: Full day wildlife excursion (wildebeest migration & big five)

Enjoy an extensive game viewing experience in Maasai Mara National Reserve with expectations to see a range of wildlife. On Masai Mara game viewing, you have a chance to see the big five (elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, rhinos), wildebeest migration with millions of wildebeest accompanied by elands, zebras.

The main area of interest for wildebeest migration is the Mara River crossing. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed on Mara River bank while you enjoy the great sights of animals around. You will proceed with a game drive and later, visit the Maasai Village.

Day 5: To Lake Naivasha, afternoon birding 

Leave Maasai Mara National Reserve after an early breakfast, drive to Lake Naivasha 5 hours’ journey. This freshwater lake is found at altitude of 1884m also the highest point of the rift valley and it has over 400 bird species including the lesser and greater flamingos, great white egrets, goliath herons, white fronted bee-eater, jacana, saddle billed stork, etc.

After relaxation at the lodge, you will go for birding with expectations to sight a range of birds. 400 bird species are in Lake Naivasha including flamingos, African spoonbill, grey crested helmeted shrike, etc. Relaxation and dinner will be at the pre-booked lodge at Lake Naivasha.

Day 6: Travel to Amboseli National Park, afternoon game drive

Breakfast early morning, after leave Lake Naivasha for Amboseli National Park, a road trip taking about 5 hours. The park is popular for its huge herds of elephants and breathtaking backdrop of snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro.  You will be served lunch at the lodge and in the afternoon, go for a game drive along the game tracks in Amboseli expecting to se large herds of elephants, cheetahs, buffaloes, lions, elands and more.
