4 Days Uganda Gorilla Tour takes you to Bwindi impenetrable jungle for habituated gorilla tracking and Queen Elizabeth national park. This Ugandan trip starts in Bwindi gorilla forest which comprises of half the total gorilla population with 12 habituated mountain gorilla families, the park offers 96 gorilla permits on a single day for visitors to go trek Uganda gorillas. Later connect to Queen Elizabeth National park the best park to see the rare tree climbing lions, large hippo concentrations, and elephants along the Kazinga channel.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi National Park
Early breakfast at your hotel before your tour guide picks you up from your hotel. The tour should set off by 7:00 am for a 8 – 9 hours drive to Bwindi impenetrable forest situated south west of the country. You will have en route stop overs first at the Equator for a small tour & souvenir shopping, another stop in Mbarara at the Igongo cultural village for a cultural tour, later have lunch and continue with your journey to Bwindi gorilla park reaching late evening in time for your dinner and overnight at Mahogany Springs or Gorilla Forest Camp (Luxury)/ Silverback Lodge (Midrange)/Buhoma Community Bandas or wagtail eco safari camp (Budget)
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking – Batwa Pygmies
Today is your gorilla trekking day. Wake up early for breakfast and with a packed lunch at your hotel, set off with your guide to the park head offices where you will attend a briefing session from a head guide. Trekking for gorillas in Bwindi requires visitors to be physically fit as it involves hiking for long hours. Time taken to finally meet your group may last from 1 – 8 hours depending on the movement of your group. Once you meet the gorillas, only one hour is allowed during which you get to observe, take pictures, and study how they interact with one another.
Later return back to your lodge for relaxing and later head out for a cultural visit to the Batwa pygmies’ community. The Batwa were the original forest inhabitants before they were forced away from the forest to conserve home for the endangered mountain gorillas.
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park – Afternoon Boat Cruise
Set off early after your breakfast at your hotel for Queen Elizabeth national park on a 4 – 5 hours’ drive. Enroute you will have a game drive through the Ishasha sector of the park where you will have a unique opportunity to view tree climbing lions. Head to your hotel for lunch and in the afternoon go out for a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel. Return to your hotel for Dinner and overnight at; Enganzi Lodge (budget), Marafiki safari lodge (midrange) and Mweya safari lodge (luxury)
Day 4: Morning Game Drive – Departure
Today you will set off quite early with packed breakfast and head out for your early morning game drive to catch sight of the early risers. This is the best time to see wildlife along the Kasenyi trail. Expect to see elephants, buffaloes, lions, waterbucks, Uganda Kobs and quite a number of others. Return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon hit the road back to Kampala for departure or drop off at the airport to catch your departure flight.
